Sanath
Jayasuriya is a veteran of more than 280 ODI
matches and at the start of the World Cup was
ranked second on the PWC list of the world's
best batsmen.
Jayasuriya
is the Lankan captain and plays a vital role
in sparking the team's performances. His most
important battle is with the bat. When he makes
runs, Sri Lanka usually win. However, when he
struggles his team usually falters along with
him.
On
quick tracks with much bounce, Jayasuriya has
in the past been exposed by the South African
attack. He will have to prove that the same
does not apply to other bowling attacks and
that he can overturn the precedent of previous
tours.
As
ever, Jayasuriya will his hands full juggling
his inexperienced seamers and part-time spinners
(of which he forms part) to make sure they are
not exposed on South Africa's faster wickets.
